Goodwater, Alabama
is a small town in Coosa County, 49 miles north of Montgomery and 107 miles southwest of Atlanta. In the 2000 census, the median family income in Goodwater was $28,819. The region's economy is based on textile and apparel manufacturing, foundries, wood products, store fixtures, health services and distribution. The Lake Martin Economic Development Alliance was formed in 1988 and actively pursues new industry to the area. The Alliance is a regional partnership between Coosa and Tallapossa Counties, and along with the Lake Martin Area Industrial Development Authority has developed two industrial parks in which four new industries are located. Quick access to Birmingham, Montgomery and Atlanta is provided by U.S. 280 and the T.C. Russell Airfield in Alexander City.
